Milestones Marked by Bunny Ears

After many months of resisting, Nathan just discovered he can tie his shoes. Well, technically he can tie MY shoes, as he pointed out, but he's tying them nonetheless.

Every Egg in the House

We colored Easter Eggs last night... better late than never. The
The boys were fascinated by the shrink wrap eggs. To explain our attire... we were hoping that dye would wash off of bodies better than out of shirts.
***look for photo in future post***

This year, we liked blue. (Mom, the eggs are shown on one of my "new" chairs)

The boys were both eager to use the wax crayon to draw crosses on the eggs to show the reason we celebrate Easter.

We colored every egg in the house... even those that weren't boiled. And wouldn't you know it, even after many warnings from me to be VERY careful with those raw eggs- one got broken. And the offending party? ME!!!

**I have more pictures to post on here but I have been trying to post this since Saturday night and have had trouble so I'm posting now and will follow up with photos of the actual boys who colored the eggs.

Last Easter

I'm moving this photo from the sidebar and doing a little house keeping but I didn't want to completely remove it from my blog. This was taken last Easter when we were visiting with Granny in Boca. Such wonderful memories. My boys are great friends, for which I am so very grateful.

Golf and a Movie

We've been really busy around here lately. So busy that I haven't posted in a while and even now, I have no pictures to share. Our "normal" days have been flying by, occupying us with scouts, co-op, honor club, kids klub and of course school. One new activity we just found is an organized games day for homeschoolers at a local park- much like PE- and the boys enjoyed themselves immensely.
Today, however, was a vacation day for all of us. Kevin took off work and took Sully to a PGA game. They have yet to return and tell me about their day. I'm hoping they at least got a peek at Tiger Woods but if not there are other players they'd like to see- Singh and Mickelson being two. Since the big boys were going to be off enjoying the day, it didn't seem fair to hold school for Nathan so he had the choice of going to the zoo or the movies. He chose the movies as long as I agreed that a zoo trip is somewhere in our near future. We saw The Spiderwick Chronicles. I'm eager to check the books out from the library because the story seems like it might be a fun read aloud.
After the movie, Nathan and I, both in need of new tennis shoes, went shopping for a bit- first to the shoe store then to thrift for a while. He's very happy with his new shoes and we found a couple of books at the thrift store- and while I DO remember posting that I wasn't going to buy anymore books, I have a really hard time passing them up!
Tomorrow is the last day of our local church fish fry, until next year. We've really enjoyed Friday dinners this Lent. I'm looking forward to attending an annual community garage sale on Saturday where I will probably bring home at least a few books.
Well, the boys have come home and are busy telling me about seeing Tiger play!

Next Time I Want a Dumb Dog

He locked me out again! After escaping once and being driven back into the house he was determined to get back out and run around obnoxiously while I talked with my neighbors. Unfortunately for him he turned the wrong knob... fortunately for me the boys were in the house this time.

Stranger on the Phone

I really wasn't prepared for how fast my little boy would all of a sudden not sound like my little boy any longer. Okay, I also realize he's taller than I am and really hasn't been my "little" boy for quite some time. But the man-voice... that surprised me! And while he still fluctuates from high to low, when he answered my phone call last night I was certain I'd dialed the wrong number. Some mornings while I'm out walking I hear a man hollering for the dog to stop barking at a time when I know Kevin is still sleeping. Occasionally, I'll still wonder what strange man is in my back yard yelling.
I suppose this is a link in the chain. He's on his way to turning completely and forever from my little boy into a man. Ultimately it's where I wish him to be, but still, I wonder if I'll ever get used to it?

Flashback

Long haired, BBQ climbing kid and his shoulder sleeping "whachu talkin' bout" brother.
