Adding Homeschool Credits

As I was cleaning up my breakfast dishes this rainy morning (the boys had already eaten and put their dishes away), I heard noises from the other room that didn't sound like books being readied for the day ahead, but more like a furious game of Foosball.

Me: What are you guys doing?
Two very innocent voices from the family room: PE

So this morning we've added a 15 minute PE credit to our day.

I've now been informed that it's time for recess... that's one they aren't going to get away with this early!

Just curious, speaking of adding "subject areas" to your list of worthy activities: Have the boys, either themselves alone or with an organized group of homeschoolers, visited a lot of work places, such as newspaper offices, the prep rooms of museums where the interesting work goes on,a brokerage or securities trading floor, an architectural firm, electronics repair shop (though with their grandfather being who he is, that might be unnecessary), that sort of thing? I think young folks often learn more by spending a day with someone doing productive work (which leaves out most government offices!) than doing straight academic studies.

I so agree. Unfortunately there aren't many of these types of opportunities for young men (or women) these days due to "liability issues". Everyone is afraid of getting sued! We are planning a tour of the local newspaper office for sometime next year.
Sully has also been working with our next door neighbor to learn electronics. He's an older retired gentleman who really enjoys teaching and is great at fixing things (reminds me of Dad- only older), so it's a win-win situation. He's also Kevin's go to guy for home maintenance.
